Hemp milk or “mylk” is one of my favorite non-dairy milks. It’s mild, creamy and smooth so it lends itself as a great milk substitute. Besides its culinary deliciousness, hemp mylk is a nutrition super hero. It is high in both Omega 3 and 6, has all 10 amino acids, is very high in protein, very high in calcium and many other nutrients. Hemp seeds are derived from the same plant that marijuana is made from, but no need to worry, you CANNOT get “high” from hemp mylk as it contains zero THC (the compound in marijuana). Try making your own at home, it only takes minutes and will save your wallet!
Hemp Mylk Recipe

  • 1 cup organic hemp hearts
  • 3-4 cups filtered water
  • 1 pinch sea salt

Blend all three ingredients in a high-power blender for about 2-3 minutes or until very well combined. Strain the mix through a fine sieve or cheese cloth and store in an air-tight container for up to a week.
Tip: Add a teaspoon of stevia, maple syrup or real raw agave nectar for a little sweetness plus a dash of organic fair-trade vanilla to make it sweeter.
